Ive been that town. I took a cruise and my mother wanted to go to that town little did she know there were switch back stairs up the mountain. Train ride was nice too. I got my exercise for that whole day climbing those steps, the walk back down was nice as well.

Notice no overhead cables or third rail. Are all trains in Ireland Diesel/diesel electric?
The only electric trains we have is the DART which is the rapid transit line in the Dublin area. All other lines are diesel only.
I've also heard they've got an overhead wire in platform 3 and 4 but I think those are only for emergency use (That's in Dublin Connolly)
Listening to this reminds me of the horror of seeing trains keep getting delayed

You were pretty lucky to catch this. The 2700 + 2750 were withdrawn in August of 2012.
